University career

At age 17, while he still has a year in high school, he is already noticed by the largest universities.

In 2013, he joined the Arizona Wildcats in NCAA. In October, he won the Arizona dunks contest. After three regular season games, he becomes the leader of the team.

On March 30, 2014, he is expected to register for the 2014 NBA Draft. On April 14, he confirmed his candidacy.

On May 17, he competes in the Chicago Combined Draft Combine and impresses with his athleticism. On May 26, he takes part in a work-out and is expected at the 10th position at the draft. On June 3rd, on the eve of a Los Angeles Lakers work-out, he declares, “If I’m chosen by the Lakers, I’ll be stuck in Kobe ” On June 5, he is tipped to the Boston Celtics who have the 6th draft pick. On June 20, he is invited to a second work-out with the Los Angeles Lakers who have the seventh draft pick. On June 22, it seems certain to be selected in the top 8 of the draft.

Professional career

In the 2014 NBA Draft, on June 26, 2014, he was selected in 4th position by the Orlando Magic. On July 2, he signed with the Magic with whom he participates in the NBA Summer League 2014. After playing in the first eleven games of the 2014-2015 season, Gordon must move away from the floor because of a broken foot on November 16 during the defeat at the Washington Wizards. On January 18, 2015, he returned to the field after missing 32 matches He finished with eight points and three rebounds in the loss at the Oklahoma City Thunder. On April 4, he made his first career double-double with ten points and twelve rebounds in the 97-90 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

In July 2015, Gordon competes in the 2015 NBA Summer League where he averages 21.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.7 blocks in three games. He does not participate at the end of the tournament due to a broken jaw contracted during a game with his brother Drew. On October 13, 2015, he returns to the preseason against the Miami Heat. On November 4, 2015, he broke his career points record with 19 units in the loss to the Houston Rockets. On January 31, 2016, he again scored 19 points and took 14 rebounds in the 119-114 win over the Boston Celtics. The next day, he broke his record of rebounds by finishing with 12 points and 16 rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs. During the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend, Gordon held on to Zach LaVine in the dunk contest. They have to compete by making two more dunks in the final, the competition was compared to the one between Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins in 1988. On February 25, he again scored 19 points in the Golden State Warriors’ 130-144 loss. Three days later, he broke his career points record with 22 points in the 130-136 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

In the national team

Gordon competes in the 2013 U-19 World Championship with the United States. The team wins the gold medal and Gordon is voted best player of the competition. He is part of the team-type with his compatriot Jahlil Okafor, the Australian Dante Exum, the Croatian Dario Šarić and the Serb Vasilije Micić.
